FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Getting a number
What is a DID number?
A DID (Direct Inward Dialling) number is a real phone number that isn’t tied to a physical line. Calls to it are delivered over the internet to wherever you choose: a SIP trunk, PBX, Teams, softphone or mobile.
Do I need to live in the country?
Not always. Many ranges are open to businesses anywhere; others need a local address or company. Requirements are shown on each number before you pay.
How quickly is a number activated?
Numbers with no document requirements activate right after signup. Numbers that need verification activate once your documents are approved.
Can I choose a specific number or pattern?
Search by area code or starting digits. For vanity numbers or consecutive blocks, contact sales and we’ll check what’s available.
Using your number
What equipment do I need?
None if you forward to a mobile. Otherwise any SIP-capable system: an IP-PBX (such as 3CX, FreePBX or Asterisk), Teams via an SBC, or a softphone app.
How many calls can one number handle at once?
Concurrent call capacity is set on your account and can be sized to your traffic. Tell us your peak and we’ll configure it.
Can I make outbound calls with my number as caller ID?
Yes, when you also use our outbound SIP service or an outbound provider that allows it. Caller ID rules vary by country.
Do numbers support SMS?
Some ranges do; search results mark SMS-capable numbers. For high-volume A2P messaging, see our sister service SMS.to.
Billing & account
How does billing work?
Monthly per-number fees are billed in advance; usage (such as toll-free inbound minutes) is billed in arrears. Pay by card or, for business accounts, by invoice.
Is there a contract?
Self-serve numbers are month-to-month. Volume and wholesale agreements can have committed terms in exchange for better pricing.
What happens if I cancel?
The number stays active until the end of the paid month. You can port it out to another provider before cancelling.
Volume & wholesale
Need 50 numbers, or 5,000?
Get volume pricing, consecutive number blocks, porting help and a named account manager. Carriers and CPaaS platforms can buy wholesale.
